Q4 always seems to sneak up on us. One minute it is summer, and the next, the calendar is packed, the holidays are around the corner, and every project suddenly feels urgent.
1️⃣ Plan to reflect. I do my monthly/quarterly planning now and then my annual planning over Thanksgiving weekend. For me, it is a quiet pause after family time, but you can choose what works best. Block the time now. 2️⃣ Respect the holidays. The end of the year moves quickly. Think ahead to how you want to preserve your sanity and enjoy (or create) the parts of the holiday you love. 3️⃣ Get ahead. Remember, you are not the only one hoping to check out a bit over the holidays. Build in time for people being out of office or less available. 4️⃣ Dial back now to breathe later. This is my not-so-subtle way of saying: start thinking now about what you can wrap up or simplify. Personally, I set higher targets in September so I can take more off my plate in November and December. |
