First, I think we need to acknowledge that we’re not always focused on getting ahead at work. Summer is often a time to take a step back and recharge.
Maybe you’re carting kids from camp to camp.
Maybe you’ve got a big vacation on the books.
Maybe you’re just trying to enjoy a little sun.
Or maybe you’re doomscrolling the state of the world, hoping for a spark of energy that hasn’t quite arrived.
I think the reality is that there are times throughout the year when we want to take our foot off the gas at work a bit.
But when you start to feel that pullback, a new kind of unease can creep in…
Am I still on the right path?
What if I’ve lost my momentum?
What if I don’t even want what I’ve been working toward?
You’re not alone.
This time of year can stir up a strange cocktail of burnout, ambition, and apathy.
Let me say this clearly:
Feeling foggy doesn’t mean you’re failing; it just means you’re human. It means your vision is ready for an update.
You don’t need to push harder.
You don’t need to power through.
What you do need is space to reconnect and a smarter, gentler way forward.
Here’s the key shift:
You can slow down and move with intention.
Mid-summer is the perfect time to pause and ask:
- What feels out of alignment right now?
- What am I craving (even if it doesn’t feel “productive”)?
- What kind of support do I want to reset?
You don’t need the whole plan, just your next move.
If you’re feeling stuck, scattered or unsure how to balance rest with progress, I’ve for a few tools that can help. Whether it’s a journal prompt, a quick clarity session, or some honest permission to rest, I’m here for it.
What help? Mid-summer is exactly the right time.
